What we do
Our experience spans housing and homesteads, workshops, cattle and sheep yards, stables, woolsheds, and anything else in between. When it comes to rural construction no job is too big or small.
Our proven building process allows us to provide clients with the best building experience and a final product that exceeds expectations.
We are a construction company specialising in rural and agribusiness buildings. With more than 80 years’ experience, our designs have been developed with input from countless farmers, their families, farm managers and advisers.
We’ve continued to build on our expertise, processes and supplier relationships, allowing us to pass the benefits of top quality work and service on to our clients, and we stand by this year after year.
We’re passionate about delivering a client experience that sees people coming back time and time again.

A well-established station in the Awatere Valley, Middlehurst Station features three large scale, custom projects. A 4-stand woolshed, shearers quarters and a helicopter hangar have all been completed with a focus on combining beauty and functionality. Working closely with owners Sue and Willie, we made sure each build was well-suited to their station’s needs and would make their day-to-day operations as smooth as possible, while adding to the visual appeal of the property.
Mount White Lodge
The owner of the Mt White Station initially reached out to the FarmBuild team with a huge development vision for the station. Having recently purchased the property, Lukas Travnicek and his management team have big plans for the property, including replacing a number of existing buildings for the increased staffing facility requirements, new buildings for honey production, tourism, horse trekking and expanding current livestock numbers.
Our reputation for high quality builds in remote locations stood out for Travnicek and his team, especially for a project of this size. Right off the bat, we were talking about 13 buildings of all varieties on a 3-year timeline, which we’re proud to say we are on track to accomplish, with a few more buildings having been added to the plans along the way bringing the total to 18.
Working closely with Willie, Emily and the Matarae team, we ticked all the boxes for their new 6 stand woolshed facility. To be used as a multi-purpose hub for the station, the design for the woolshed involved a large kitchen area and access onto a deck in addition to the functional aspects of a working facility.
